Castilleja School educates motivated young women to become confident thinkers and compassionate leaders with a sense of purpose to effect change in the world. Founded in 1907 by Mary Lockey – with the support and mentorship of Stanford’s then-president David Starr Jordan – Castilleja School remains to this day the only non-sectarian all-girls middle and high school in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lockey imagined girls and women would be empowered through a world-class education to take their rightful place as leaders in society.
