Even though 16% of our entire Upper School is currently on the robotics team, we still want to reach even more people in the school. We run “Open Labs” in the School lab where we disassemble old robots. This is mutually beneficial on many levels. It allows us an opportunity to share the basic mechanics, electronics, and anatomy of a robot with girls who are interested in engineering but cannot fit robotics into their busy schedule. It also gives an insight into engineering to girls who are unsure about their interest. We also get an opportunity to interact with the middle school and get them excited about FLL. Not to mention all the space we clear up by getting rid of the old robots!
