Today marked the kickoff of the 2015 FIRST season! New and returning members congregated to watch the challenge video, participate in ice breaker activities, and brainstorm potential designs, such as claws, pneumatics mechanisms, and wheels. The new team members also attended a presentation put together by a couple team members that introduced and explained the structure of the upcoming season.
We also introduced new leads for this season, welcomed new and returning mentors, and discussed safety rules. After introductions, we broke off into groups based on the different mechanisms that we decided would be part of our robot.
Also, our website has been recently redesigned! Our website lead updated the header and is adding new content for the 2015 season. You can check out our Sebastian archive under “Archives”;l this page features highlights and achievements of our 2014 Aerial Assist robot, affectionately named Sebastian after the crab from The Little Mermaid.
To conclude our first day as a team, we reviewed prototypes of different designs and mechanisms and discussed the pros and cons of each. We’re proud of the progress we made today, and we can’t wait for what’s to come!
