Forty hands pulled the plastic bag over our finished robot, and I had the honor of sealing it with a red zip-tie. With twenty-one students and seven mentors present at 11:59pm on February 19, we set a new record for attendance on the night of “ship.”
The morning was spent making final adjustments to our robot, and three team members and two mentors traveled to NASA in the afternoon to test Neil’s new hooks. Moving back to Castilleja before bagging and tagging, we used every last minute of our time with Neil Parker.
Although we still have a couple aspects (within our 30lb limit of course!) to add before our first competition in Portland, Oregon, the team has a game plan and is ready to work hard in preparation for the Autodesk Regional Competition. Even though yesterday was my last official day of any build season, the knowledge that we’ll still be working for the next two weeks made Ship seem more like a beginning than an end. I’m looking forward to our first regional!
Congratulations Team 1700!
