In the morning we worked really hard (and fast!) on wrapping up our prototypes for the Design Review.
The conveyor group made a classy chassis, being resourceful and using pipe cleaners as spacers and incorporating lego pieces. They also finished their prototypes of the chain and hooks, mounting it on a lasercut board.
The grab and twist group modified their chassis to fit the arms and add more height. They created some arms with lasercut plywood, PVC, and hot glue. They also brainstormed possible claws so no robots would be falling off the pyramid!
After some intense work (no one stopped to eat lunch until they were commanded to!) the Design Review began. Thank you to all the parents and mentors that showed up! Both climbing mechanisms were presented, many questions were asked, a few answers were given, and everyone’s brains were whirling.
Once the Design Review wrapped up, the team further discussed “Pros and Cons” of each design. Unlike the choice between focusing on shooting or climbing, the group was much more split on this decision.
We hope to hear back from mentors and teammates that couldn’t attend, and we will know which design we are pursuing on Monday!
