Following our very successful design review with parents and mentors – thanks to all who came! – we are back at work improving our designs and building our pyramid. We are looking to complete storyboards of our different design options as well as real-sized models to present at the second design review this Saturday so we can make a decision then. Our prototype groups were split up into two groups for each of the two designs and continued to work. While we missed a fair number of our freshmen and sophomores for the first of Casti’s Rm4 Science Seminars, there was a reasonably large turn-out.
The major crisis of the night was about the design of the pyramid, namely having to do with the 68-degree angle. We could not figure out the length on the slanted side of the pyramid between levels because we could not determine which angle was 68 degrees. Over the course of our 2 hour meeting, our leads come up with at least four different values when placing the angle in different locations. If you know what these lengths are, please let us know.
Tomorrow we will continue with another day of preparing prototypes and hopefully more progress in the creation of the pyramid. Thanks to all who came!
